Vurel Alton Vick passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, in Floresville, Texas, at the age of 90 years, 11 months, and 18 days. He was born on Jan. 2, 1921, in Woodhigh, the son of Burt Alton and Nellie Jane Vick.

Vurel was the former minister of the Floresville Church of Christ and many other South Texas churches. He was a resident of Floresville for 63 years and a former resident of San Antonio.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and seven sisters.

Vurel is survived by his wife, June Muriel Vick; his children, Eileen Nell Brack and husband Milton of Jasper, Gail Beatrice Mansfield and husband Lloyd of Muscatine, Iowa, Larry Vick of Galveston, Ronald Anderson Vick and wife Kay of Katy, and Philip Andrew Vick and wife Donna of San Antonio; 17 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Thursday, Dec. 22, from 6-8 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville.

A funeral service was held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Floresville Church of Christ in Floresville with Bobby South of Jasper officiating.

Interment followed in the Floresville City Cemetery in Floresville.
