CASA VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR, FULL-TIME POSITION. Provides professional staff support to CASA volunteers to ensure that abused children’s best interests are represented in court. Social services experience required.  Responsible for assisting with recruiting and initial training of advocates, and coordinating cases in Wilson County and Karnes County with Atascosa County (home office). Must demonstrate written and presentation communication skills. Must be available to work intermittent evenings/weekends with some travel.  Must have personal car, current TDL, and auto liability insurance. Viva Lea Luker Mills, 90, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2011, in the Guadalupe Regional Medical Center in Seguin, Texas. She was born on July 21, 1921, to Thomas Leroy and Olga Mae McMeans Luker in the Stockdale area.

Viva Lea was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Baker Mills; her parents; her sister, Frieda Marie Luker Britt; and her daughter-in-law, Janice Marie Nesbit Mills.

She is survived by her sister, Belma Odeene Luker Sanders; her children, Joyce Brooks and husband Tommy of Helotes, Roy Mills and wife Rhonda of New Braunfels, Gary Mills and wife Jo of Stockdale, and Glen Mills and wife Donna of Three Rivers; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Dorothy Joyner of San Antonio, Minnie Ruth Boeselt of San Antonio, and Margie Mills of Floresville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Thursday, Dec. 29, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Stockdale.

A funeral service was held Friday at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Stockdale, with Pastor Scott Jones officiating.

Interment followed in the Stockdale Cemetery in Stockdale.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice or to the First Baptist Church Stockdale, P.O. Box 95, Stockdale, TX 78160.

Viva Lea was my Sunday School teacher and a really nice lady. She always seemed to be very poised, calm and dedicated to her faith. Sympathies to all her family and friends.
