First Lutheran Church in Floresville is seeking a Director of Youth and Family Ministry, part-time 20 hours/week. Qualifications: Have active worship life and ongoing growth in faith, understanding of Lutheran-Christian tradition, ability to work with both adults and youth, basic computer and organizational skills. Director will disciple both parents and youth grades 1-12, establish appropriate caring relationships with youth, seek opportunities to connect with youth in their environment on their schedule, organize parents into groups for children's ministry work, arrange at least 3 annual local events or trips for Sr. high youth, recruit and encourage youth and adults to take positions of shared leadership and involvement, create and implement means for regular communication with parents and youth, manage youth and family ministry calendar in collaboration with staff, parents, and youth. Joyce Lucille (Prewitt) Wootan, 83, of La Vernia, Texas, passed away Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, in San Antonio. Joyce was born to Walter E. and Ida Prewitt on May 29, 1928, in San Antonio.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters, and her great-granddaughter, Kyley Wootan.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Louis W. Wootan of La Vernia; her sons, Wayne Wootan and wife Sharon of La Vernia and Charlie Wootan and wife Joyce of San Antonio; grandchildren Joey Wootan and wife Melissa of La Vernia, Jennifer Wootan of La Vernia, and Shelley Helbert and husband Jeremy of San Antonio; great-grandchildren Joshua Wootan, Lane Wootan, and Hailey Wootan, all of La Vernia; and other loving family.

Visitation took place Monday, Dec. 26, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Chaplain Darwin Huartson officiating.

Interment followed in the Post Oak Cemetery in Guadalupe County.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
