Volunteers and materials are needed for a San Antonio area “Extreme Makeover Home Edition” project -- the ABC show in which a new home is constructed and delivered to a deserving family within a seven-day period. The project will start Saturday, Jan. 14, and the home will be delivered on Saturday, Jan. 21.

According to Kevin Brown, president of Abrego Development of Floresville, the home will be built southeast of San Antonio.

Brown is one of eight project managers for construction of the home and other improvements.

San Antonio homebuilder Gordon Hartman will build the home, under the Morgan’s Wonderland name. The project will use 100-percent volunteer labor and mostly donated materials.

Skilled trade labor needed includes appliance installers, cabinet installers, framers, painters, stucco installers, Sheetrock hangers and finishers, stone masons, trim carpenters, wallpaper hangers, window blind installers, and wood flooring installers.

Materials needed include a garage door with opener and installation (preferably barn-style door) and stucco materials.

For more, see “Volunteer contacts.”

Companies willing to donate materials should email Brown at Kdbrown767@aol.com.

General volunteers are also needed to handle cleanup, food service, and other duties. Minimum age is 18, due to insurance requirements. If you or someone you know is interested in helping as a general volunteer, visit www.morganswonderland.com, click on the Extreme Makeover link, and follow the registration instructions.
