The 81st Judicial District Attorney’s office is seeking candidates for the position of an Administrative Assistant. Duties will include but not limited to: answering incoming calls and greeting visitors, prepare discovery for defense bar as required, providing administrative and clerical support to the ADAs and District Attorney, assist in general office work and perform related duties as follows: Operate a multi-line telephone switchboard, proficient use of software applications and computer equipment, scanning and compiling files for eDiscovery, filing and creating court files, generating reports as required. Applicants must have at least five (5) years of administrative assistant experience, strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) ability to multi-task, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 1948-2012

Samuel R. “Sam” Talamantez passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 63 years, 11 months, and 4 days. He was born on Feb. 1, 1948, in Floresville to Peter and Margarita Talamantez. He was a lifelong resident of Floresville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Eugene Talamantez.

Sam is survived by his wife, Martha Talamantez of Floresville; his children, Nina Montoya of Cañada Verde, Mario Talamantez and wife Lisa of San Antonio, and John Talamantez and wife Cynthia of San Antonio; his sisters, Maria Louisa Martinez of San Antonio and Delmira Perales of San Antonio; his brothers, Pete Talamantez and wife Rosela of Floresville and Richard Talamantez and wife Francis of Floresville; grandchildren Jacob, Serena, Darla Rae, Miranda, Jose, Johnny Jr., and Jayden.

Visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 8, at 6 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville, with a prayer service held at 7 p.m.

A funeral service was held Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Francisco Saldana officiating.

Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Floresville.
