ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Samuel R. “Sam” Talamantez passed away Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 63 years, 11 months, and 4 days. He was born on Feb. 1, 1948, in Floresville to Peter and Margarita Talamantez. He was a lifelong resident of Floresville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Eugene Talamantez.

Sam is survived by his wife, Martha Talamantez of Floresville; his children, Nina Montoya of Cañada Verde, Mario Talamantez and wife Lisa of San Antonio, and John Talamantez and wife Cynthia of San Antonio; his sisters, Maria Louisa Martinez of San Antonio and Delmira Perales of San Antonio; his brothers, Pete Talamantez and wife Rosela of Floresville and Richard Talamantez and wife Francis of Floresville; grandchildren Jacob, Serena, Darla Rae, Miranda, Jose, Johnny Jr., and Jayden.

Visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 8, at 6 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville, with a prayer service held at 7 p.m.

A funeral service was held Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Francisco Saldana officiating.

Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Floresville.
