Rudolph “Rudy” T. Rendon, 87, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, in Floresville, Texas. A former resident of Victoria and Port Lavaca, Rudy was a resident of Floresville for a short time. He was born in Victoria on Oct. 13, 1925, to Sally and Merced Rendon Sr.

Rudy was married to Hilda Garcia Rendon on June 6, 1948. He was a retired funeral director and had owned several funeral homes in Victoria, Port Arthur, and Palacios.

He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1943-46 and served in the European Theater. He was a member of the Columbus VFW, the Optimist Club, and many more organizations. He was a city councilman for eight years in Port Lavaca and served as mayor of Port Lavaca from 1964-68.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers and sisters, Merced Rendon Jr., Stella De Leon, Mary Louise Garcia, and Alfred T. Rendon.

Rudy is survived by his brother, Joseph T. Rendon and wife Micaela of Victoria; his sister-in-law, Bertha Rendon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A small family gathering was held in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 2:30 p.m. in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
