Help Wanted

ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Compensation is at a rate of $200 per week plus $100 per completed and submitted crisis assessment, and mileage. If interested call Camino Real Community Services, 210-357-0359.

Freeman Harvey Cone, 66, of Nixon, Texas, passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012. He was born in Nixon on Feb. 21, 1945, to Freeman Herbert and Emma Mae (Barrett) Cone.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jo Merle Moore.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Vera Ann (Gordon) Cone; his son, Freeman Hensley Cone and wife Debie; his daughter, Patricia Ann Harvey and husband Robby; grandchildren Chelsey Brooke Puccetti, Freeman Wesley Cone, Freeman Mason Cone, Freeman Carter Cone, Bailey Breann Harvey, and Robert Cook Harvey; his sisters, Frances Hastings, Joy Rogers, and Linda Johnson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Monday, Jan. 9, from 5-7 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon.

A graveside service was held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Union Valley Cemetery near Nixon, with Wayne Moore officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Union Valley Baptist Church, 8221 F.M. 1681, Nixon, TX 78140 or the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, 431 Isom Road, San Antonio, TX 78216.
