Ronald “Ron” Regis Vogel, a resident of Floresville, Texas, entered eternal rest Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at the age of 67 years, 9 months, and 27 days.

Ron was born March 2, 1944, in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of Regis and Thelma Jones Vogel.

He married Sandra Lynn Wise on March 19, 1983, at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. Ron retired with more than 20 years of enlisted service with the Air Force. In addition, he retired with more than 20 years in civil service as a printing officer at Fort Sam Houston and Lackland Air Force Base.

He generously gave his time to the St. Vincent De Paul Society in Floresville and the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, where he was a lifetime member.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of more than 28 years, Sandra Wise Vogel; his children, Ronald R. Vogel Jr., Deborah Vogel, David Vogel, Kenneth Vogel, Lynn Swenson and husband Richard, Laura Wagner and husband Robert, and Michael Grimes and wife Robin; his grandchildren, Kristi, Amanda, Micheal, Brittany, Greg, Jonathan, Chris, Samantha, and Robert Caden; and his sisters, Marlene Spinneweber and husband Tom, Gloria Boardman and husband Ed, Sandi Watson and husband Todd, and Evelyn Dapra and husband Tim.

Visitation began at 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home in Floresville.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at noon on Friday in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, officiated by Father Grzegorz Szewczyk, S.D.S.

Interment with full military honors followed at 2 p.m. in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Serving as pallbearers were Jonathan Vogel, Ken Vogel, Oscar Banda, Micheal Vogel, Richard Swenson, and Robert Wagner.
