Last year, in addition to changes, new ag-related events and groups graced the area. These included:
•The first-ever Wilson County Llama Show, which was held last March at the La Vernia Chamber of Commerce grounds.
•A new covered facility for the Cowboy Fellowship of Atascosa County, with a groundbreaking ceremony held June 19 in Pleasanton.
•The Red, White, and Blue Poultry Club, which hatched in Wilson County, making it the second one of its kind in the state.
•The first-ever Peanut Festival Ranch Rodeo, held in the Floresville River Park roping arena last October. Despite the rain, four teams competed, with the Bar J team taking top honors.
