Lost: Border Collie, black and light brown, 9 months old, wearing a green collar, last seen Sept. 22 near CR 427 in Poth. If found call 210-324-1208.

Philip John Pena, 23, of Smiley, Texas, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, in Gonzales. He was born June 17, 1988, in Gonzales and was a member of St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Smiley.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Pablo and Lupe Macias; and paternal grandfather, Jacobo Pena.

Philip is survived by his parents, Robert and Angela (Macias) Pena of Smiley; his brothers, Robert Pena and Bobby Pena, both of Smiley; his sisters, Veronica Pena and Laura Pena, both of Smiley; his paternal grandmother, Juanita Pena of Nixon; three nephews; one niece; and his cousins, aunts, uncles, and many friends.

Visitation was held Friday, Jan. 13, from 2-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon. A rosary was recited at 6:30 p.m., led by Deacon John Moreno.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Smiley with Father Paul Raaz officiating.

Interment followed in the Smiley Latin American Cemetery in Smiley.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
