ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Compensation is at a rate of $200 per week plus $100 per completed and submitted crisis assessment, and mileage. If interested call Camino Real Community Services, 210-357-0359.

Margaret Ann “Peggy” Thorne Hewell passed away on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012. She was born in Austin, Texas, on Jan. 16, 1951, to Dr. Milner Spear Thorne and Polly Perry Thorne.

For 30 years, she pursued her passion and shared her gift of teaching children to read.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Sally Thorne Shields.

Peggy is survived by her loving husband, Johnny Hewell of Nixon; her daughter, Heather Lea Cirillo and husband Joey of Spring; her son, Shawn Thomas Hewell and wife Sandra of New Braunfels; her grandchildren, Tristan Cirillo, Abbrianna Cirillo, Christopher Meiss, Destiny Rodriguez, April Seele, Alison Seele, Gabrielle Hewell, and Elizabeth Hewell; her sister, Deborah Teten and husband William of Tyler; her brother, Zachary Spear Thorne of Philadelphia, Pa.; her sister-in-law, Gloria Eshelman and husband Dean of Livingston; her brother-in-law, Dr. Thomas Shields of San Antonio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 15, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon.

A funeral service was held Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Interment followed in the Nixon Cemetery in Nixon.
