The Stockdale Chamber of Commerce held its regular December meeting on Jan. 12. Items of discussion centered around planning for the 2012 Watermelon Jubilee that will take place Thursday through Saturday, June 14-16, in the Stockdale City Park.

We are proud to announce our entertainment headliners for 2012! Friday, June 14, will feature a concert by the “Josh Abbott Band” and Saturday, June 15, will feature the “Randy Rogers Band.” Please mark your calendars to attend this year’s festival -- the 68th annual Stockdale Watermelon Jubilee will be a special one!

The board is also working on lining up the rodeo performances, sponsor packages, vendors, and kids’ activities for the upcoming Jubilee.

Contest winners

As a follow-up to last month’s article, winners of the 2010 Christmas Lighting Contest are as follows:

•Best overall -- Carter and Sherry Lambeck

•Most elegant -- L.H. and Maureen West

•Most colorful -- Brian and Cindy Rice

•Most creative -- Wes and Virginia Waymer

•Most holiday spirit -- extended Urrabazo family

•Best business -- Dudley’s

There are a few new faces on our board, including Paul Darilek, Randall Lingo, Brent Akin, and Louise Stoever Cranford. We are so thankful for these new volunteers and look forward to working with them in the coming months!

We always have room for additional help, so if you are interested in becoming more involved in our activities, please plan to attend our next meeting on Monday, Jan. 30. We will meet at 7 p.m. in the offices of the Stockdale Economic Development Corp.

Sherry D. Lambeck is the president of the Stockdale Chamber of Commerce.

Sherry D. Lambeck, president
