Help Wanted

Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Richard “Cy” Seibert, 87, of Floresville, Texas, left for motorcycle heaven on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012. Cy was born in Iowa on Jan. 28, 1924.

He joined the U.S. Navy during World War II and served his country in the Pacific, serving more than 20 years. Cy then went on to the old San Francisco Mint.

Cy is best remembered as a very independent man with a quick smile and salty joke for everyone he saw and met. He was a motorcycle rider for most of his life, along with being a dune buggy racer in his day. Cy was a member of the Gypsy Motorcycle Club for many years and brought the Aardvark Rally to Floresville, to the joy of many businesses and town residents. Remember the light parades?

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kay, his bride of more than 50 years.

Cy is survived by a sister, Dorothy of Des Moines, Iowa; his daughter, Katherine of Tyler; three grandchildren, Robert, Glenn, and Jeniffer; a great-grandson, Caleb; and a great-granddaughter, Kelly.

His family and friends will miss Cy deeply, but wish him well on his new adventures with Kay. They are probably having a wonderful time, together again on the motorcycle, on their new journey, his family said.
