As the weather warms, opportunities to learn more about gardening increase.

Schulz Nursery in San Antonio will host an Earth-Kind Gardening Series: The Home Fruit Orchard event on Saturday, Jan. 28, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

David Rodriguez, Texas AgriLife Extension Service agent for horticulture for Bexar County, will present this free program on fruit-tree growing basics at the nursery, located at 3700 Broadway in San Antonio.

For more information, call Angel Torres at 210-467-6575.

Also on Jan. 28, Dr. Connie Sheppard, AgriLife Extension family and consumer sciences agent for Bexar County, will host a free jams and preserves demonstration with Uvalde horticulturist Dr. Larry Stein from 9 a.m. to noon on the Pearl Brewery grounds in San Antonio. This will be accompanied by a fruit tree giveaway, one free fruit tree per family.

Also, AgriLife Extension will host a Children’s Vegetable Garden Program in early February. For program application, registration, and orientation information, visit http://bexar-tx.tamu.edu.
