Texas Farmers Union delegates and members will convene for the 110th state convention in the Menger Hotel in San Antonio, according to a Jan. 13 Texas Farmers Union press release. The convention will run Friday and Saturday, Jan. 27-28, beginning Friday at 1 p.m.

Texas Farmers Union President Wes Sims said, “We will have a number of interesting speakers and programs. One of the speakers will be National Farmers Union President Roger Johnson, who will be speaking at the banquet on Saturday night.”

Friday evening’s reception will include entertainment by the 2011 “Rural American Idols” Jade Flores, Elijah Farr, and Brenda Martin. Food will be in abundance.

Policy drafting will start at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon with emphasis on the Farm Bill, Texas education, and health care.

A progressive auction will conclude the convention, with all proceeds to go the Farmers Union Charitable Fund.
