Candence Royal graduated from the South Texas College of Law in Houston on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, earning a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree. Her parents are Frank H. and Sonja Royal.

Royal is a 2000 graduate of Pleasanton High School and a 2005 graduate of Texas Tech University.

Commencement for the 77 graduates was held in the Hilton Americas in downtown Houston and featured Vice Admiral James W. Houck, the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General, as speaker. Royal will take the Texas Bar exam in February.

South Texas College of Law is Houston’s oldest and only private law school, founded in 1923.
