Rudy Perez Arocha Sr, a lifelong resident of Cañada Verde in Wilson County, Texas, entered eternal rest Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at 7:35 a.m. in the Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville at the age of 62 years, 5 months, and 16 days. Rudy was born Aug. 5, 1949, in Wilson County, the son of Alfredo Trinidad and Juanita Perez Arocha.

He attended schools in Saspamco and was a butcher at Koenig’s Meat Market for many years. Rudy married Esther Casanova on July 26, 1969, in the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Elmendorf.

Rudy was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Mark Arocha; and his siblings, Stephen, Tony, Olga, and Alfredo Arocha.

Rudy is survived by his beloved wife of more than 42 years, Esther Arocha of Cañada Verde; his children, Esther Macias and husband Jamie, Rudy Arocha Jr., Gary Arocha, Angel Arocha, Roy Arocha, Dennis Arocha, and Elaine Arocha, all of Cañada Verde, Gerald Arocha and wife Sylvia of Graytown, and Andrew Arocha and wife Leticia of Elmendorf; his grandchildren, Jamie Jr., Kasandra, Gabriel, Marcos, Aaliyah, Stephany, Samara, Luis, and Sam; his brothers, Johnny Arocha and wife Juanita and Paul Arocha, all of Graytown; his sisters, Evelyn Serna and husband Pete and Mary Jane Lopez and husband Michael, all of Graytown, and Jackie Garcia and husband Leonard of Cañada Verde; his sisters-in-law, Juanita Arocha and Vicenta Arocha; his brother-in-law, Joe Carrion; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Wednesday, Jan. 25, at 5 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday at 9 a.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, with Father Phillip Henning officiating.

Interment followed in the Graytown Cemetery in Wilson County.

Serving as pallbearers were Pete Serna, Leonard Garcia, Gerald Arocha, Andrew Arocha, Jaime Macias, and Gary Arocha.
