Leola Caroline (Graf) Forister was born July 12, 1913, in Karnes City, Texas, to Frido and Lydia (Jauer) Graf.

On June 10, 1933, she was married to Afton M. Forister in Karnes City. Leola lived in Clarkwood, Fashing, and San Antonio, in Floresville from 1941--51, and then near Sutherland Springs until 1957. She then moved to Camp Ranch near Floresville until 1968, when she and Afton moved back to Karnes City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Afton Forister; her parents; daughter-in-law Brigitte Forister; grandson Chris Ervin Forister; sister Loraine (Graf) Grimsinger; brothers-in-law Alvin Grimsinger Jr. and Dr. Joe C. Jones; and nephew Gail Jones.

Leola is survived by her son, Marvin E. “Gene” Forister of Converse; her daughter, Mary C. Forister of Austin; a sister, June (Graf) Jones of Tyler; granddaughters Shirley Dixon and husband Kenneth of Converse and Cindy Forister of Elmendorf; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 1, from 9-10 a.m. in the Rhodes Funeral Home in Karnes City.

A funeral service will take place Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Karnes City with Pastors Pat Traxler and Kevin Cornelius officiating.

Interment will follow in the Karnes City Cemetery in Karnes City.

Memorial donations may be made to The Mary C. Forister Fund of Floresville for special children, c/o Paige Fuller, 1200 Fifth St., Floresville, TX 78114; First Baptist Church of Karnes City, 406 East Calvert Ave., Karnes City, TX 78118; or to a charity of one’s choice.
