Preparing kids for kindergarten

FLORESVILLE -- Connie Campbell, owner of Windmill Early Childhood Education Center, established the business to prepare preschool children to handle the demands of kindergarten.

Windmill Early Childhood Education Center is more than a day care. Children learn numbers, sequencing, science concepts, and more in a structured learning environment, which prepares children for school, Campbell said. In addition to preschool, the center offers after-school care. Tutorials for state testing are available, as are test strategies for all ages.

Toddlers through school-aged children are welcome. The weekly rate for children ages 3 to 5 is $110, which Campbell said is comparable to area competitors.

“I enjoy playing with the kids and seeing that look of understanding in their eyes when they know ‘I got it right!’” said Campbell, who has 15 years’ teaching experience.

When not working with children, Campbell enjoys horseback riding and team roping, among other activities.

Windmill Early Childhood Education Center is located at 6932 U.S. 181 N., next to the Falls City National Bank near the intersection of F.M. 775 north of Floresville.

Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
