Alfred Otto Fahrig, 82, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012.

Fred was born to Albert and Roxie “Strickmire” Fahrig on June 23, 1929, in Caldwell County, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sons, T.C. “Wesley,” Donnie, Wayne, and Joey Fahrig; his brother, Albert Fahrig; and his sisters, Della Battles and Leonora Stiffermire.

He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Rice and husband Tony of Luling; his son, Emil Fahrig and wife Cindy of Nixon; his sisters, Hilda Dvenowski, Doris Dvenowski, and Edna Johnson; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon on Sunday, Feb. 5, from 4-8 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.

Graveside services were conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the Nockenut Cemetery near Nixon.
