Retta “Polly” Varnon Harding, 95, of Smiley, Texas, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012. Retta was born June 21, 1916, in Osage, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Harding.

Retta is survived by her sons, David Varnon of Reno, Nev., and Charlie Varnon of Rockport; her grandchildren, Joe, Mike, and Eddie Everett, James Prettyman, Teresa Connell, James Connell, and Deanna, Dwayne, and David Bivens; her brother, Bill Hammond of Fresno, Calif.; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Visitation was held Saturday, Feb. 4, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Stockdale.

A funeral service was held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Scott Jones officiating.

Interment followed in the Harper

Cemetery between Stockdale and Floresville.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
