Mesquite Traildrivers Queen Brooke Hilbig
Brooke Hilbig is the 2011-12 Mesquite Traildrivers Queen. She has been involved with many events with the Mesquite Traildrivers, such as the Easter egg hunt, the Bluebonnet Fest Parade, the ranch rodeo, the Peanut Festival, the Halloween party, the Christmas party and New Year’s Eve, the warm-up rides, and finally the trail ride leading up to the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo.
“Throughout the year, I have met some great people and will have many great memories,” Brooke said. “I am so proud to say that I am a member of the Mesquite Traildrivers. The club members are very close and always willing to help others in whatever situation.”
Brooke has been a member since she was 3 or 4 years old. Throughout her life, she has enjoyed riding horses and mules, and riding in the wagon with her family and friends.
Brooke, 17, is a junior at La Vernia High School. She volunteered with the Student Council for several years. Brooke and her family have volunteered at the La Vernia Food Pantry for the last three years. In addition, her family is in charge of the tea booth at the St. Ann Picnic. Brooke enjoys helping and visiting with the people.
Brooke invites everybody out to the dance on Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Mesquite Hall in Adkins. After that, there will be a dance on the first Saturday of each month except when there is a holiday.
For all the trail riders, Brooke prays they have a safe and fun ride this year. “I would like to say thank you to God, my family, and friends for all the support throughout the year,” Brook said. “Happy trails.”
