Many area high school students who have competed through several levels of auditions, beginning in the fall of 2011, have been chosen as All-State musicians, the highest honor a Texas music student can receive. They will perform in Texas All-State Music Groups Saturday, Feb. 11, in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio as part of the annual Texas Music Educators Association Clinic/Convention. Area students include:

•La Vernia: Britnee Fox, clarinet; Allyn Hartman, clarinet; Kirsti O’Brien, clarinet; Arthur Ramon, trumpet; Rachel Walker, flute.

•East Central: Joseph Mora, clarinet.

More than 60,000 students initially entered the All-State competitive process, and 850 are selected to perform with All-State Concert and Jazz bands.

For more information, visit www.tmea.org/convention or call 1-888-318-8632, ext. 107.
