Ava J. Cardenas is honored by her selection as the 2011-12 scepter bearer for Sacred Heart School Valentine Court.

Born May 7, 2008, in San Antonio, she is the daughter of Richard and Jackie Cardenas of Saspamco, and the little sister of Richie and Luke Daniel Cardenas. She is the granddaughter of Paul and Yolanda Martinez of Elmendorf, Richard and Janie Cardenas of Cañada Verde, and Jesse and Angie Garcia of Saspamco.

This is Ava’s first year enrolled at Sacred Heart School. She is in the 3K class, taught by Elvira “Billie” Quintanilla and Brenda King. Ava has perfect attendance and enjoys being the “line leader” in her class. She enjoys Mass every Friday with her teachers and classmates. Ava is following in the footsteps of her brother, Luke, by attending Sacred Heart at 3 years of age.

Ava is a very active 3-year-old, who enjoys sports and the outdoors. She loves playing baseball, soccer, and basketball with her brother Luke and cousin Cory. She played her first year of soccer with the Wilson County Soccer League and did very well. Ava will play in her first T-ball league with the S.A. Swingettes this spring. She also loves to play on her swing set and with her baby dolls.

When not participating in extracurricular activities, Ava loves to sing, write her name, and have stories read to her. She adores her dog Tanner and cats Mousey and Skittles. Ava is a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Saspamco.

Her family thanks everyone who supported Ava and helped make this memorable for her.
