Mia Faith Gonzales, 6, is excited and proud to represent Sacred Heart School as duchess of the 2011-12 Valentine Court.

The daughter of Anthony and Betty Gonzales, Mia is the granddaughter of Angelina Gonzales and Irma Castro, and the late Salvador and Ramona Castro and Arturo Gonzales.

She is in her first year at Sacred Heart, as a kindergartener. Mia’s favorite things at school are learning to read and playing with her friends.

At home, Mia loves being outdoors with her four dogs, Blue, Rex, Amy, and Tiny -- all strays she rescued -- and playing with her neighbors. In addition, she has a pet rabbit she won at the 2010 Floresville Peanut Festival carnival, and a pet fish named Shelley. Mia would bring in every stray, if allowed.

This spring, she will begin playing soccer.

When not in school, Mia loves going to the beach or just playing in the water. She looks forward to a fun-filled year.
