YORKTOWN -- The Floresville Tiger powerlifting team made a recent trip to Yorktown, and the boys returned home with several individual awards to go along with their second-place team trophy.

For the Tigers, this was the second meet in which the team grabbed team honors. Everyone contributed to the effort, and Jonathan Saldana and Nick Trevino led the way with their first-place performances. Mark Livesay, Alexander Trevino, and Benny Ximenez each scored second-place finishes for Floresville, and C.J. Felux grabbed a third-place individual finish to help the team total.

Saldana has been a beast in competition this season, and he continued his winning ways in Yorktown with a total lift of 1,780 pounds. He won the super heavy weight division in Yorktown with a bench press of 400 pounds, a deadlift of 630, and a squat of 750 pounds. The other top finish came from Nick Trevino in the 114-pound class, as he powered up 660 pounds. His bench press of 165 pounds, squat of 205, and deadlift of 290 were good enough to grab individual top honors.

Livesay earned big points for the Tigers with his second-place finish in the 123-pound class. He turned in a bench press of 155 pounds, a squat of 300, and a deadlift of 330 pounds. Alexander Trevino powered up a total of 1,240 pounds while competing in the 242-pound class, turning in a bench press of 285, a deadlift of 465, and a squat of 490 pounds. Ximenez also won a silver medal with his second-place finish of 1,340 pounds while competing in the 275-pound division. Ximenez had a bench press of 315 pounds, a deadlift of 450, and powered up 575 pounds in the squat rack.

In the 165-pound class, Felux earned a third-place individual finish with his total of 975 pounds. Felux lifted 185 pounds on the bench press, had a squat of 375, and turned in an impressive deadlift of 415 pounds. Scott Gonzales also competed for the Tigers in the 148-pound class, where he had a three-lift total of 865 pounds. Gonzales had a bench press of 205 pounds, a squat of 315, and managed a deadlift of 345 pounds.

Head Coach Jason Pfluger continues to remain pleased with this team’s performance, and said the team members are working hard to reach their goals.
