LA VERNIA -- The La Vernia Bear varsity baseball team will host its annual Alumni Scrimmage Saturday, Feb. 18, beginning at 11 a.m., to be played between former Bear baseball team members and the 2012 varsity squad.

The high school will provide all the baseballs, bats, batting helmets, and catcher’s gear. Those who choose to play need to provide their own cleats, baseball pants, and gloves. There will be a concession stand for food and drinks starting at 10:30 a.m.

The scrimmage will be conducted like a regular game. There will be umpires and all other workers required to run a game or scrimmage. Therefore, all friends and family planning on attending the scrimmage should still expect to pay a small fee at the gate to get in. Alumni playing in the scrimmage will not be charged to get in. All games will have a two-hour time limit. The 10-run rule will not be in effect.

For more information, call Coach Adam Borgfeld at 830-556-3375, or email Adam.borgfeld@lvschools.net. Registration forms are available at http://hs.lvisd.org under the “Athletics” tab, under baseball.
