The 55th La Vernia Junior Livestock and Poultry Show, sponsored by the La Vernia Chamber of Commerce, will be held Thursday through Saturday, March 1-3, on the chamber grounds off U.S. 87 in La Vernia.
In announcing this move back to March, stock show executive board President Mark Koepp said, “We are trying to give the opportunity for those who participate in the major shows to be able to have the chance to show in every judging event they want to. When those venues had a change in dates, local committee members changed to the first weekend in March to accommodate exhibitors.”
The baked foods show and arts and crafts judging will take place Friday, March 2, with an auction Friday at 4 p.m. in the show arena.
The livestock and poultry exhibitors will have their auction on Saturday at noon in the sale arena.
Food booths, refreshments, exhibits, and arts and crafts booths will be available throughout the show. There will be no barbecue meal this year, but the hospitality building will be open for auction buyers with sandwiches, snacks, and refreshments starting at 10 a.m. A meet-and-greet with sign-up of buyers will be held starting at this time with auction sheets and add-ons forms available. The buyer’s pool will also be accepting donations for the 2012 show.
