Flat Pirate begins adventures
At Poth Independent School District (ISD), it’s never too early to start preparing for college. To learn more about future college options, the fifth-grade class participated in an activity that brought colleges from all over Texas, as well as other states, right to the front doors of Poth Elementary.
The students paired off into groups and selected a college they wanted to learn about. Each group was given a picture of a pirate to decorate with the chosen school’s colors. From there, the pirate, or Flat Stanley, was shipped to the college, where he got the full experience. Students have learned about colleges across the United States, including Louisiana State University, Texas A&M University, Texas Lutheran University, Texas Tech University, Baylor University, and many more. Fifth-graders are anxiously waiting the return of Flat Pirate from his college adventures and can’t wait to share the information they learn with their families and friends.
