ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. 1919-2012

Ben F. Jarzombek, 92, passed away Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, in Kenedy, Texas. He was born on April 17, 1919, in Cestohowa, the son of Anton and Rosie (Jendrusch) Jarzombek.

Ben proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II earning the American Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.

On June 24, 1947, he married his beloved wife, Eleanor (Lyssy) Jarzombek.

Ben worked as a meat market manager and butcher for Karnes Mercantile for many years. After his retirement, he opened Ben’s Bar-B-Q and Catering.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Lottie Jarzombek Rakowitz; and his brothers, Vincent Jarzombek, Archie Jarzombek, Chester Jarzombek, and Leo Jarzombek.

Ben is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Eleanor (Lyssy) Jarzombek; his children, Carol Moller and husband Kevin of Fairfield, Ron Jarzombek and wife Shirley of Mechanicsville, Iowa, Michael Jarzombek and wife Cara of Houston, and Janet Creswell and husband Traye of Seguin; his grandchildren, Shari, Debi, Robert, Randy, Bryan, and Brandon; and his great-grandchildren, Abby, Emma, Madi, Jack, and Haley.

Visitation was held Friday, Feb. 17, at 5 p.m. in the Rhodes Funeral Home in Karnes City, with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

A Mass of Resurrection was held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City.

Interment followed in the Cestohowa Cemetery with military honors.

Serving as pallbearers were Pat Jarzombek, Gary Jarzombek, Jerry Jarzombek, Dr. Gery Moczygemba, Keith Jarzombek, and Rick Waclawczyk. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Robert Jarzombek, Randy Jarzombek, Bryan Creswell, and Brandon Creswell.
