Help Wanted

Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Rosita “Nana” Villa, a longtime resident of Floresville, Texas, passed away Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at 8:20 a.m. in San Antonio, at the age of 97 years, 5 months, and 10 days. Nana was born Aug. 31, 1914, in Sinton, the daughter of Santana and Juanita Mendiola Pacheco.

Nana married Frank Villa on Dec. 10, 1939, in the El Mesias United Methodist Church in Floresville, where Nana was a lifelong member.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank Villa; and her children, Santana “Sonny” P. Villa and Rose Mary Luczkow.

Nana is survived by her children, Martin P. Villa and wife Rose Marie of San Antonio and Martha Ortegon and husband Louie of San Antonio; her grandchildren, Trina Marie Guevara of San Antonio, Bill Michael Luczkow and wife Felicia of Floresville, Jennifer Martinez and husband Santos of San Antonio, Trisha Villa of San Antonio, Martin Frank Villa and wife Katrina of San Antonio, Mark Anthony Ortegon and wife Sharon of San Antonio, and Krista Marie Maldonado and husband Freddie of Kirby; and her eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Monday, Feb. 13, at 5 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville, with a prayer service held at 7 p.m.

A funeral service was held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the El Mesias United Methodist Church in Floresville, with Pastor Francisco Javier Briones officiating.

Interment followed in the Floresville City Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were Mark Anthony Ortegon, Bill Luczkow, Martin Frank Villa, Michael Guevara, Freddie Maldonado, and Jim Lawhon.
