Wilson County Gardening Day is Saturday, March 3, in Floresville. Enjoy this family-friendly event with something for everyone from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Sponsored by the San Antonio Water System (SAWS), the Wilson County News, and Milberger’s Nursery, the annual event benefits the Floresville Alternative Education Center programs.

On the alternative center campus, located at 335 Alternative Lane just off U.S. 181 (10th Street) in Floresville, will be vendors, plant sales by the school’s STARS program students, refreshments, and an auction, as well as a live broadcast of “Gardening South Texas” on KLUP radio, featuring Dr. Calvin Finch and Dr. Jerry Parsons.

Myriad local organizations and growers will offer a variety of items available for purchase. SAWS will offer free xeriscape plants until supplies run out and will again demonstrate the amazing potato-flushing toilet. Each hour will include a prize drawing -- must be present to win. Hourly presentations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. will be offered on gardening- or outdoor-related topics.

For more information, call 830-393-5368.
