Volunteer, community support = successful L.V. stock show event

Workday set for Feb. 26
To make any community event or function successful, volunteers and donations are always needed and welcome. It’s what pulls community members and neighbors together, making sure an event such as the upcoming 55th La Vernia Junior Livestock & Poultry Show -- set for Thursday through Saturday, March 1-3 -- is successful.
Volunteers are welcome to assist during a cleanup day, scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 26, from noon until 3 p.m. at the La Vernia Chamber of Commerce Hall in La Vernia, to get the grounds ready for the upcoming show. 4-H and FFA members and adults are asked to take rakes and shovels to team together to get the grounds ready.
Families can help by bringing an item for the chamber scholarship silent auction or assist in the hospitality room. Assistants are needed in the kitchen to prepare and deliver appetizers to the area. Servers are welcome to assist in providing hospitality to auction buyers.
There are always the cleanup jobs after the event to get things picked up and put away.
The La Vernia Buyers’ Pool will also be open throughout the show to take donations or pledges -- $10, $20, $50, or $100 -- it all adds up when pooled together to buy a stock show project. Volunteers are welcome to serve here also. For more information, just drop by the buyers’ pool booth.
Add-on sheets will be available in the hospitality building prior to the auction. These donations assist in boosting the exhibitors’ final sale amounts.
