1920-2012

Retired Senior Master Sgt. Louis Jesse Kiolbassa, 91, of St. Hedwig, Texas, passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 2012. He was born Aug. 17, 1920.

Louis served his country in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Air Force Reserve, and Texas Air National Guard in the No. 149 Fighter Group. He was a previous commander of the American Legion Post No. 539 and currently served on the executive board. He was also a member of the Holy Name Society at the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Victoria (Strelczyk) Kiolbassa; and his brothers, Leon and wife Alvina, George, Benjamin, and Clifford Kiolbassa.

Louis is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eugenia (Kravitz) Kiolbassa; his daughters, JoAnn Hollingworth and Janine Kotara; his grandchildren, Roger Hollingworth and wife Danielle, Michael Hollingworth and wife Brooke, Jason Kotara and wife Heather, and Jeffery Kotara and wife Heidi; his great-grandsons, Gavin Kotara, Colby Kotara, and Riley Hollingworth; his sisters-in-law, Alice Kiolbassa and Irene Kiolbassa; and numerous nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Visitation took place Monday, Feb. 27, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia with a rosary recited at 7 p.m.

A Mass was held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in St. Hedwig, with Father Bill Zadora officiating.

Interment followed in the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Cemetery in St. Hedwig.

Memorial donations may be made to the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Cemetery, P.O. Box 100, St. Hedwig, TX 78152.
