1918-2012

Maria Guadalupe Rodriguez, a longtime resident of Edinburg, Texas, entered eternal rest Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, at 9:35 p.m. in the Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville at the age of 93 years and 9 months. Maria was born May 23, 1918, in Chamacuaro Guanajuato, Mexico, the daughter of Narciso and Juana Lopez Rodriguez.

She lived in Chamacuaro Guanajuato until 1944, when she moved to Edinburg in Hidalgo County, where she worked as a housekeeper for many years. Maria moved to Floresville in 2011.

Maria is survived by her sister, Rosa Silva of Mexico; her brother, Juan C. Rodriguez of Texas; her nephews, Alfonso Rodriguez and Clemente Rodriguez, both of Texas; her nieces, Minerva Silva of Illinois, and Noemie Lopez and Rosa Alfaro, both of California; and numerous great-nieces and -nephews.

Visitation was held Saturday, Feb. 25, at 11 a.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A rosary was recited Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Floresville, followed by the celebration of Mass with Father Phillip Henning officiating.

Interment followed in the Floresville City Cemetery in Floresville.

Serving as pallbearers were Alfonso Rodriguez Jr., Angel Rodriguez, Joey Morado, Angel Renee Rodriguez, John Sanchez, and Isaiah Amesquita.
