Eddie and Dora Wyatt celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, with family and friends in their La Vernia home.

The couple were married on Feb. 28, 1942, in La Vernia. Soon after, Eddie left for North Africa and Italy during World War II to serve his country in the U.S. Army.

Upon his return to the homeland, they lived in San Antonio until the birth of their first son, Larry. They then moved to La Vernia in 1946, after which their second son, Bill, was born.

The couple were joined by their children, Larry and wife Janet and Bill and wife Mary; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren to celebrate the special day.
