Offer condolences


Gary Wickwire went to be with the Lord Saturday, March 3, 2012, in San Antonio, Texas. He was born March 26, 1948, to Russell and Verdie Wickwire.

Gary was born and raised in San Antonio, where he went to St. Gerard’s School for 12 years. During his life, he loved to play softball, hunt, and bowl. He was involved for several years with Pop Warner and CYO. Gary loved coaching his son and daughter along with all the other children. He retired from City Public Service after 35 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Richard Wickwire and Asa Wickwire.

Gary is survived by his wife of 42 years, Pamela; his son, Mark Wickwire; his daughter, Jennifer Wickwire Sjogren and husband Darin; his brother, Ronald Wickwire and wife Nettie of Maryland; his two grandsons whom he loved dearly, Zander and Zachary Sjogren; numerous nephews and niece; and extended family from Arlington and Dallas.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 7, from 5-7 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Interment will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery in San Antonio.
