Editor:

Not to throw a wrench into the Eagle Ford shale parade, but I see several serious problems here in South Texas.

First, what happens in 20 years when all of the oil-related companies that have moved to South Texas leave because all of the wells are drilled? What happens when more cities like Falls City start running out of water? Who will fix all of the damage that the tractor-trailers are causing our roads, such as the ruts on 281 in Pleasanton? Try driving down Highway 99. It is torn up for miles from tractor-trailer traffic.

What happens when all of the area school districts spend millions on buildings and all of the kids leave because mommy and daddy cannot find work? It is extremely mind-boggling that not too many people in South Texas seem to give a damn about trying to find alternatives to fossil fuels.

Paint me a liberal, or whatever else you people call concerned citizens, who see firsthand the damage being done.

Well, as a small business owner making custom saddles, I am very grateful for all the money flowing into the area. Maybe this year I'll make enough money to pay my property taxes.
