U.S. 87 south of La Vernia remains closed in both directions following a fatal collision at approximately 6 a.m. today. Dead is 46-year-old Ernesto Marquez of Stockdale. Also involved was an 18-wheeler driven by 47-year-old Ronnie Montoya of San Antonio.

Officers with the Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol continue their investigation into the crash.
