Manuela Aleman, 65, of Smiley, Texas, died Monday, March 5, 2012, in San Antonio. She was born on March 5, 1947, in Wrightsboro, the daughter of Lauriano and Marcela (Longoria) Medina. Manuela was a member of St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Smiley.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Manuela is survived by her husband since May 10, 1966, Frank Aleman Sr.; her daughter, Wendy Avers and husband Mike of Frisco; her two sons, Frank Aleman Jr. and wife Sylvia of Smiley and Chris Aleman and wife Bertha of Fort Huachuca, Ariz.; her sister, Susie Rice; her four brothers, Larry Medina, Domingo Medina, Joe Medina, and Robert Medina; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and other family and many friends.

Visitation was held Thursday, March 8, from 2-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon. A rosary, led by Deacon John Moreno, was recited at 6 p.m.

A funeral Mass was held Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Smiley with Father Alfonso Gioppato officiating.

Interment followed in the Wrightsboro Cemetery in Wrightsboro.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
