Offer condolences


Norma J. Evans, 82, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born Oct. 12, 1929, in Stockdale to David and Elgia Bennett.

Norma was a longtime member of the West Avenue Church of Christ, and more recently of the Grissom Road Church of Christ. She graduated from Stockdale High School on May 30, 1947. She married Nelson Warren Evans on Aug. 3, 1951. Norma served as a nurse at Lackland Air Force Base during the Korean conflict.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nelson W. Evans; her brothers, Robert Leroy Bennett and Houston W. Mix; and her sister, Lola Mae Lange.

Norma is survived by her daughter, Marilyn J. Watson and husband Russell; her son, John N. Evans and wife Robin; her brother, Norman Edward Bennett and wife Willis of Stockdale; her sister, Helen May Bennett Hicks of San Antonio; her grandchildren, Mark Russell Watson and wife Lesli, David Carl Watson and wife Nicole, Clint Nelson Evans, and Cody Lee Evans and wife Alex; great-grandchildren Tanner David Watson, Allie Nicole Watson, Owen Russell Watson, and Kylie Ruth Watson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation took place Thursday, March 8, from 6-8 p.m. in the Sunset Northwest Funeral Home in San Antonio.

A funeral service was held Friday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home.

A graveside service followed at 3 p.m. in the Stockdale Memorial Cemetery in Stockdale, with ministers David Watson and Terry Starling officiating.
