FLORESVILLE -- Floresville Middle School tennis athletes attended the Uvalde Invitational Tournament March 2-3. Doubles teams and individuals competed in various brackets and went home with two team trophies. The seventh-grade team placed third overall, and the eighth-grade team placed second overall.

In seventh-grade action, Spencer Leal finished first in boys singles play, and Mikaela Talley was fourth in girls singles. Noah Rabago finished first in consolation boys singles, and Callie Czaja and Destiny Hernandez teamed up to finish first in girls doubles consolation. Donna Fleming and Gabby Reyes finished third in girls doubles play. Cole Gulick and Joseph Gorea were third in boys doubles competition.

Marissa Lyssy finished first for the eighth-grade team in girls singles, and Anna Quintanilla and Karson Moeller were both first in consolation girls singles play. Kyle Ferguson finished first in boys singles consolation. Devon Chandler was third in boys singles, and the girls doubles teams of Michelle Arias and Sharrise Williams, and Bryana Chavarria and Shelbi Bays finished third in girls doubles. Cameron Gandy and Corey Chandler were third in boys doubles, and Robbie Jarrell and Dennis Siegel finished fourth in boys doubles. Emily Aguilar and Nicholas Phillips were fourth in mixed doubles.

“The team has had a very successful year,” said Coach Marlana Moeller. “They also defeated La Vernia on March 5. The spring season is well under way and the team is looking forward to representing FMS, the tennis program, and bringing home some more trophies for the FMS trophy case.”
