The Atascosa County Juvenile Justice Center is now hiring for the position of part time Juvenile Supervision Officer I. Applicants must have at minimum a high school diploma/G.E.D., be at least 21 years of age, able to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening. Guards find heroin in Wilson County Jail

FLORESVILLE -- Officials from the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office continue their investigation into how a federal prisoner was able to smuggle heroin into the Wilson County Jail here.

Sheriff Joe D. Tackitt Jr. said a tip from an inmate March 13 led a jail lieutenant to conduct a search, in which they found 0.03 grams of heroin that belonged to an-other inmate. Tackitt said the U.S. Marshals Service, for which these inmates are being housed, is withholding the suspect’s identity.

The sheriff said he does not recall any prior incidents of this type occurring in the Wilson County Jail, but that similar situations arise daily in jails nationwide.
