The team of Conley Boatright, Cason Trammell, and Santos Pompa represented the Nixon-Smiley Ranch Rodeo in the 2012 Little Ranch Hands contest held Feb. 26, prior to the San Antonio Ranch Rodeo finals.

“Our kids did a great job,” said Coach Janna Wheat. “They were first to get to their goat, but unfortunately drew a very uncooperative goat, and were beaten by the team from Southwest Ranching Heritage Center in Uvalde.”

Conley is the daughter of Collie and Kristi Boatright. Cason is the son of Slade and Shelly Trammell. Santos is the son of Mark and Melissa Pompa.

JC Ranch, winners of the Nixon-Smiley Ranch Rodeo, was listed No. 10 among the 23 teams competing to advance to the San Antonio Ranch Rodeo finals. The leader of the pack, Rancho Seco, went on to capture the San Antonio title.
