1940-2012

Juanita A. Garcia passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012, in Seguin, Texas, at the age of 72 years, 1 month, and 27 days. She was born on Jan. 7, 1940, in Nixon to Alejandro and Carmen Arce.

She was a resident of Seguin for seven years and a former resident of Smiley.

Juanita was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, and one sister.

She is survived by her children, Norma Gutierrez and husband George of Seguin, Esther Rawls and husband John of Nixon, Anna Elkins and husband Jerry of Leesville, Tina Garcia of Seguin, and Jesse Garcia and wife Irma of Nixon; her sister, Dora Rios of Nixon; 17 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 6, at 5 p.m. in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Nixon, where a rosary followed at 6:30 p.m.

Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday in the church with the Rev. Alfonso Gioppato officiating.

Interment followed in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Nixon.
