ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. 1913-2012

Susie Kortz, 98, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012, in her residence. She was born Aug. 11, 1913, in Cestohowa, the daughter of Julian and Sophie Bronder Moy.

Susie married Nick Kortz Nov. 11, 1930, in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City. She had lived most of her life in the Panna Maria community where she was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the community. She currently was a member of St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Martinez. Susie was a seamstress, housewife, and farmer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Julia Kortz; her brothers, Felix Moy and John Moy; her grandson, Brian Wiatrek; her granddaughter, Karen Pollok; and son-in-law Alfred Pollok.

Susie is survived by her daughters, Ann Wiatrek and husband Frank, Alice Pollok, and Anna Gawlik and husband Alvin, all of San Antonio; her sisters, Eleanor Kowalik, Bernice Keller, and Mary Wiatrek; her grandchildren, Debbie Shodrock, Cynthia Gawlik, Jennifer Knight, Kenneth Pollok, Ronald Pollok, and Darren Wiatrek; her great- grandchildren, Melissa, Megan, Lacy, Shannon, Alyssa, Crissy, Emma, Kyle, and Jacob; and great-great-grandchildren Mason, Brenna, Sally, Trey, and Bryce.

A rosary was recited Friday, March 16, at 7 p.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Panna Maria.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in the church.

Interment followed in the Panna Maria Cemetery in Panna Maria.

Serving as pallbearers were Darren Wiatrek, Gerard Shodrock, Kenneth Pollok, Ronald Pollok, Larry Boerm, and Jerry Kortz.
