Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. 1913-2012

Susie Kortz, 98, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2012, in her residence. She was born Aug. 11, 1913, in Cestohowa, the daughter of Julian and Sophie Bronder Moy.

Susie married Nick Kortz Nov. 11, 1930, in the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Falls City. She had lived most of her life in the Panna Maria community where she was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the community. She currently was a member of St. Jerome’s Catholic Church in Martinez. Susie was a seamstress, housewife, and farmer.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Julia Kortz; her brothers, Felix Moy and John Moy; her grandson, Brian Wiatrek; her granddaughter, Karen Pollok; and son-in-law Alfred Pollok.

Susie is survived by her daughters, Ann Wiatrek and husband Frank, Alice Pollok, and Anna Gawlik and husband Alvin, all of San Antonio; her sisters, Eleanor Kowalik, Bernice Keller, and Mary Wiatrek; her grandchildren, Debbie Shodrock, Cynthia Gawlik, Jennifer Knight, Kenneth Pollok, Ronald Pollok, and Darren Wiatrek; her great- grandchildren, Melissa, Megan, Lacy, Shannon, Alyssa, Crissy, Emma, Kyle, and Jacob; and great-great-grandchildren Mason, Brenna, Sally, Trey, and Bryce.

A rosary was recited Friday, March 16, at 7 p.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Panna Maria.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in the church.

Interment followed in the Panna Maria Cemetery in Panna Maria.

Serving as pallbearers were Darren Wiatrek, Gerard Shodrock, Kenneth Pollok, Ronald Pollok, Larry Boerm, and Jerry Kortz.
