1936-2012

Josephine Solarczyk, 76, of San Antonio, Texas, went to be with her Lord on Friday, March 16, 2012, in San Antonio after a long battle with cancer. She was born Feb. 9, 1936, in Marion, the daughter of Andrew and Annie (Kosub) Foerster.

Her life was devoted to her family and church. Josephine was a wonderful daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all, her family said.

She was preceded in death by her father and her granddaughter, Sara Strey.

Josephine is survived by her mother, Annie Foerster of St. Hedwig; her children, Margie Bilicek and Catherine Schick and husband David, all of San Antonio, and David Solarczyk and wife Donna of St. Hedwig; her grandchildren, Michael Bilicek, Daniel Schick, Christi Schick, and Brandon Strey; her brothers, Andrew Foerster and wife Shirley of San Antonio and August Foerster and wife Judy of Marion; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family.

Visitation was held Monday, March 19, at 5 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia, with a rosary vigil recited at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the St. Jerome Catholic Church in Martinez.

Interment followed in the St. Jerome Catholic Cemetery in Martinez.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sara Strey Memorial Scholarship Fund (www.sarastreyfoundation.org) or to the St. Jerome Catholic Church Building Fund, 7955 Real Road, San Antonio, TX 78263.
