Stockdale News: March Brahma happenings
Superintendent, Stockdale ISDMarch 21, 2012 | 2,013 views | Post a comment
Spring is here and with the recent rains have come all the beautiful Texas wildflowers. The seventh-grade science classes are busy collecting and identifying local Texas wildflowers. There should be no trouble getting the quota since the wildflowers are in full bloom.
Junior high parent/teacher conferences are set for Thursday, March 22, from 1-6 p.m. Report cards need to be picked up that day and parents are given the opportunity to visit with teachers.
The junior high track meet is scheduled for Thursday, March 22, at George West. Good luck to those young Brahmas.
The seventh- and eighth-grade English classes will take a field trip to Floresville to see “Hunger Games” after reading the book in their classes.
The schedule for the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) testing is as follows:
•Seventh-grade writing -- Tuesday and Wednesday, March 27-28
•Eighth-grade math -- Tuesday, March 27
•Eighth-grade reading -- Wednesday, March 28.
Also, cheer try-outs are scheduled for Thursday, March 29.
Thanks and appreciation go out to all of our transportation personnel and all the employees of STS. They do a great job of getting our kids to school.
February teachers of the month are:
•High school -- Kerri Darilek
•Junior high school -- Neal Bennett
•Elementary school -- Kristi Stevens.
We want to remind everyone to please be careful on S.H. 123 from Business 87 to the U.S. 87 Bypass while the Texas Department of Transportation does some needed repair work. There is a lot of action going on there.
Have a great March!
Paul Darilek is the superintendent of the Stockdale Independent School District.
