The Sara Strey Memorial Scholarship Foundation is gearing up for its third annual fund-raiser. The event will be held Saturday, March 31, from 5-11 p.m. at Texas Pride Barbecue in Adkins.

Over the past two years, the foundation, established in memory of Sara Strey, has awarded more than $90,000 in scholarships to area graduating seniors. The goal of the foundation is to continue to help students reach their dreams of a college education by assisting them with a scholarship.

At the time of her death, Strey was a junior at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin and a graduate of East Central High School. She was the daughter of Donna and David Solarczyk of St. Hedwig and Shawn Strey of La Vernia.

Presale tickets are now on sale. The cost for adults is $15; children’s tickets for ages 12 and younger are $10 each. Tickets at the door will be $20. Food will be served from 5-9 p.m.

The event will include live music and dancing, and both a silent and live auction. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the event.

Tickets are available at Solarczyk’s Automotive in St. Hedwig or Simply Gorgeous in La Vernia. Donations for the auctions or door prizes are being accepted.

For more information, visit sarastreyfoundation.org or the Sara Strey Memorial Scholarship Foundation page on Facebook, or contact Sandra Burg at 830-779-1098 or thefourburgs@yahoo.com.

The foundation has applied for 501(c)3 status.
