Offer condolences


Jerry Lon Worthington of Floresville, Texas, passed away Monday, March 19, 2012, at the age of 77 years, 4 months, and 2 days. He was born on Nov. 17, 1934, in Smiley to Jesse and Jewel Worthington.

Jerry was a resident of Floresville for 50 years and a former resident of Victoria. He was a member of Northview Baptist Church, Masonic Lodge No. 515, Past Master, and first member of Lodge No. 515 AF & AM to receive the Golden Trowel Award.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Frank, Willard, and Wilburn Worthington; his sister, Ruth Adkins; his sons, Glenn and Richard Reid; and his faithful companion, Daisy Mae.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Genevieve Worthington of Floresville; his daughter, Wanda Reid of Floresville; his sister, Roberta Cole of Floresville; his grandchildren, Justin Steenken, Kelly Reid, Jody Perkins, and Amy Meyer; seven great-grandchildren; his very special sister-in-law, Ida King Rogers, whom he helped raise, and husband Sam, and their children, Clayton, Austin, Matthew, and Ida Mae Rogers; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Friday, March 23, from 6-9 p.m. in the Franklin Funeral Home in Floresville.

A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Chuck Jennings officiating.

Interment followed in the Masonic Cemetery in Floresville.

Pallbearers were Jimmy King, Steve King, Randy Fleming, Richard O. King, Karl Wayne Baker, Justin Steenken, Charles Franklin, Charlie Fuller, and Adrian Kopecki.

Honorary pallbearers were Vernon Brown, Vernon Whitehead, John Hale, Oscar Hutchinson, James Warnasch, Wes Copas, Santana Montez, Chris Taylor, George Luna, and Ray Rogers.
